Allahumma Inni As Aluka Bi Annaka Antallah Meaning & Arabic

When you finish your prayers and are about to say the final greeting, there’s a special duas such as ‘Allahumma inni as aluka bi annaka antallah.’ This prayer is said after the last sitting position in the prayer, just before you say ‘Assalamu Alaikum’ to end your prayer.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّه لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ، الأَحَدُ، الصَّمَدُ، الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ، وَلَمْ يُولَدْ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

Transliteration

Allaahumma innee as-aluka bi annee ashhadu annaka ant-allaahu, laa ilaaha illaa ant, al-ahad us-samad, alladhee lam yalid wa lam yoolad, wa lam yakullahu kufuwan ahad.

Allahumma inni as aluka bi annaka means O Allah, indeed, I ask you by my testifying that You are Allah, there is none worthy of worship except You, the One, as-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need), the one who does not beget, nor was begotten, and there is none who is like Him.

Hadith Text

Abdullaah Ibn Buraidah Al-Aslamee narrated from his father, who said: The Prophet (ﷺ) heard a man supplicating, and he was saying:

O Allah, I ask you, O Allah, the One, the eternally besought of all, He begetteth not, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable unto Him, that you may forgive me my sins, you are Most Forgiving, Merciful.

So he (ﷺ) said: “By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, he has asked Allah by His Greatest Name, the one which if He is called upon by it, He responds, and when He is asked by it, He gives.”

“Al-Ahad (the One): This is one of the beautiful names of Allah. It means that Allah is unique, like no one else. There is nothing in the whole universe that is exactly like Allah in His nature, names, qualities, or actions. This special name belongs only to Allah.

As-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need): This name shows that Allah doesn’t need anything or anyone, but everything and everyone needs Him. He is the one we turn to for answers, help, and everything we need. He is the ultimate provider and caretaker, never needing anything Himself.

Kufuwan Ahad (the one who does not beget, nor was begotten): This means that Allah doesn’t have parents, and He doesn’t have any children. There is nothing and no one who is just like Allah. His perfection is so unique that nothing can compare to Him in any way.

This dua is a special prayer that you say to Allah. You start by addressing Allah, saying, ‘O Allah,’ to show your respect and devotion. Then, you mention some important qualities of Allah:

1. You testify or bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah. This means you believe that only Allah deserves to be worshipped, and there is no other god.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) heard someone saying this prayer and he confirmed its significance.

He said that the person had asked Allah by His Greatest Name, which is so powerful that when Allah is called upon by it, He responds, and when someone asks Allah using this name, He gives them what they ask for.
