The dua is written in Arabic as:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ وَأَهْلِي، وَمَالِي، اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي، وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي، اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي، وَعَنْ شِمَالِي، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي”.

The dua is transliterated as Allahumma inni as’alukal afwa wal afiyah fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as’alukal afwa wal afiyah fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahum-mastur ‘awrati, wa amin raw’ati wahfazni min bayni yadayya, wa min khalfi, wa ‘an yamini wa ‘an shimali, wa min fawqi, wa ‘audhu bika an ughtala min tahti.

Allaahumma inni as aluka afiyah means O Allah, I seek Your pardon and my wellbeing in this world and the next. O Allah, I seek Your pardon and my wellbeing in my religion, in my worldly affairs, in my family and in my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and preserve me from anguish . O Allah, guard me from what is in front of me and behind me, from my left, and from my right, and from above me . I seek refuge in Your Greatness from being struck from beneath me.
The shorter version of this dua is:
O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and in the Hereafter.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as’alukal-‘afwa wal-‘afiyah fid-dunya wal-akhirah.

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) never abandoned these supplications, every morning and evening:
Allahumma inni as’alukal-‘afwa wal-‘afiyah fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as’alukal-‘afwa wal-‘afiyah fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahum-mastur ‘awrati, wa amin raw’ati wahfazni min bayni yadayya, wa min khalfi, wa ‘an yamini wa ‘an shimali, wa min fawqi, wa ‘audhu bika an ughtala min tahti.
Sunan Ibn Majah
The Hadith Number of allahumma Inni as aluka al afiyah Dua is 3871 and it is found in Sunnan Ibn Majah.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say this special prayer every morning and evening, and it’s a great example for us to follow. In this prayer, we ask Allah to:
- Forgive our sins and wipe them clean
- Give us wellbeing and protection from harm
- Keep us safe from trials and tribulations
- Strengthen our heart and body so we can meet Him without any sin or harm
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that asking for forgiveness and wellbeing is very important, and that wellbeing is the best thing we can ask for after having certainty in our faith.

- Save us from punishment in the grave and Hellfire
- Keep our faith strong and free from incorrect beliefs
- Save us from calamities and errors in our life
- Protect our family from trials and evil
- Protect our wealth from being lost or spent in a way that displeases Allah
We also ask Allah to:
- Conceal our faults and mistakes
- Save us from anguish and worries
- Protect us from all angles, including the four angles that Satan promised to attack us from (front, back, right, and left), as well as from above and below
