Allahumma Ahsanta Khalqi Full Dua in Arabic & Meaning

Text Of The Hadith

On the authority of ‘Aisha (رضي الله عنها) that she said, that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, O Allah, as you have beautified me, beautify my character.

[It was narrated by Ahmad (24392), Abu Ya’la (5075), At-Tayalisi (372), Al-Bayhaqi in Ash-Shuab (8183). It was authenticated by the redactors of Musnad Ahmad, similarly it was authenticated (Sahih) by Al-Albani in Saheeh Al-Jami’ As-Sagheer (1307)]

O Allah, as you have beautified me, beautify my character, it means O Allah, just as You have made my physical form upright and balanced, adorned with utmost goodness and perfection, I ask You to improve my character so that it may shine with beauty and perfection, just like my outward appearance.

In this dua, we call upon Allah, relying on His perfect power and actions. It’s one of the greatest ways to draw closer to Him.

When we say, ‘as You have beautified me,’ we’re asking through His previous blessings, combining two powerful ways of seeking closeness to Him, hoping for a positive response and acceptance.”

“The Prophet’s request for better character serves as an example for his followers, showing how important and virtuous it is to strive for excellence in behavior.

Many narrations highlight the Prophet’s excellent character and its elevated status. Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-Aas reported that the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, never used bad language and always emphasized the importance of good manners, saying, ‘Among the best of you are those with the best manners.'”

Abu al-Darda, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah be pleased with him, shared that the Prophet, peace be upon him, once said, “Nothing is heavier on the believer’s scale on the Day of Judgment than good character.”

Having good character isn’t just important for the Hereafter; it’s also a key way to get closer to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in Paradise.

Jabir, another companion of the Prophet, reported that he said, “Among those dearest to me and nearest to me in the assembly on the Day of Judgment are those with the best manners.”

There are many other teachings from the Prophet that highlight the importance of having good character. Good character shows itself in how we act towards Allah and how we treat other people.

Towards Allah, it means being okay with whatever He decides for us, accepting it without getting upset, and being thankful for everything, whether it’s good or bad.

When it comes to other people, good character means not hurting them, being generous, and being friendly and cheerful when we meet them.

So, having good character isn’t just about being nice; it’s about how we live our lives and how we treat both Allah and those around us.
