Prophet Ibrahim, known as the father of prophets, is a revered figure in Islamic tradition. Throughout the Quran, we find numerous duas made by Prophet Ibrahim on various occasions. In this blog post, we’ll delve into each of these duas, exploring their significance and the lessons they hold for us.
1. Dua of Ibrahim for Makkah
رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡ هَٰذَا بَلَدًا ءَامِنًا وَٱرۡزُقۡ أَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ مَنۡ ءَامَنَ مِنۡهُم بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۖ قَالَ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَأُمَتِّعُهُۥ قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ أَضۡطَرُّهُۥٓ إِلَىٰ عَذَابِ ٱلنَّارِۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
Transliteration: Rabbi ijal hatha baladan aminan warzuqahlahu minaaththamarati man amana minhum billahi walyawmi al-akhiri qalawaman kafara faomatti’uhu qaleelan thumma adtarruhu ila athabinnari wabi’sa almaseer.
Meaning: My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allâh and the Last Day.” He (Allâh) answered: “As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!
Prophet Ibrahim (AS) prayed for the city of Mecca and its future inhabitants, even when it was a barren and uninhabitable place. He asked Allah to:
- Provide fruits and sustenance for those who believed in Him and rejected idol worship
- Accept the construction of the Kaaba, which he built with his son Isma’il
Through his prayers, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) showed his concern for the well-being of future generations and his desire to establish a sacred place of worship, which would become the heart of Islam.
2. Dua
Ibrahim’s Supplication to Allah when He brought Isma`il to Makkah:
رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدَ ءَامِنًا وَٱجۡنُبۡنِى وَبَنِىَّ أَن نَّعۡبُدَ ٱلۡأَصۡنَامَ
Transliteration: Rabbi ijal hathal balada aminan wajnubnee wabaniyya an na’buda al-asnam.
Meaning: My Lord, make this city [i.e., Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.

3. Dua Of Ibrahim After Building Kaaba
رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلۡ مِنَّآۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
Transliteration: Rabbanataqabbal minna innaka anta assamee‘u al Aleem.
Meaning: Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.
Surah Baqarah verse 127
4. Dua
Ibrahim’s Supplication that Allah sends the Prophet:
رَبَّنَا وَٱبۡعَثۡ فِيهِمۡ رَسُولًا مِّنۡهُمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتِكَ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَيُزَكِّيهِمۡۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Transliteration: Rabbana wab’ath feehimrasoolan minhum yatloo alayhim ayatika wayu allimuhumul kitaba wal hikmata wayuzakkeehim innaka anta al azeezu alhakeem.
Meaning: Our Lord, and send among them a messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify them. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Surah Baqarah verse 129
5. Dua Ibrahim For His Offspring and Father
رَبَّنَا وَٱجۡعَلۡنَا مُسۡلِمَيۡنِ لَكَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِنَآ أُمَّةً مُّسۡلِمَةً لَّكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبۡ عَلَيۡنَآۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Transliteration: Rabbana waj’alnamuslimayni laka wamin thurriyyatina ommatan muslimatan laka waarina manasikana watub alayna innaka anta attawwabu arraheem.
Meaning: Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites [of worship] and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.
Surah Baqarah verse 128
After facing rejection and stubbornness from his father and community in Iraq, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) migrated to a new land. Despite the challenges, he continued to pray for his father’s forgiveness. When he left his son Isma’il and wife Hajar in the desolate land of Mecca, he prayed to Allah to:
- Provide them with food and sustenance in the barren land
- Bring people to inhabit and flourish in Mecca
Allah, the Most High, answered Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) prayers, transforming Mecca into a thriving city. The Quran mentions some of his heartfelt supplications, showcasing his unwavering faith and compassion.
6. Dua
رَّبَّنَآ إِنِّىٓ أَسۡكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِى بِوَادٍ غَيۡرِ ذِى زَرۡعٍ عِندَ بَيۡتِكَ ٱلۡمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَٱجۡعَلۡ أَفۡئِدَةً مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ تَهۡوِىٓ إِلَيۡهِمۡ وَٱرۡزُقۡهُم مِّنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَشۡكُرُونَ
Transliteration: Rabbana innee askantu min thurriyyatee biwadin ghayri thee zar’in inda baytika almuharrami Rabbana liyuqeemoo assalata fajalaf-idatan minannasi tahwee ilayhim warzuqhummina aththamarati la’allahum yashkuroon.
Meaning: Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.
Surah Ibrahim verse 37

7. Dua
رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ تَعۡلَمُ مَا نُخۡفِى وَمَا نُعۡلِنُۗ وَمَا يَخۡفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىۡءٍ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ
Transliteration: Rabbana innaka ta’lamu maa nukhfee wama nu’linu wama yakhfaa alaAllahi min shay-in fee al-ardi wala fee assama.
Meaning: Our Lord, indeed You know what we conceal and what we declare, and nothing is hidden from Allah on the earth or in the heaven.
Surah Ibrahim verse 38
8. Dua Ibrahim in Salah
رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡنِى مُقِيمَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِىۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلۡ دُعَآءِ
Transliteration: Rabbij’alnee muqeemassalati wamin thurriyyatee Rabbana wataqabbal dua.
Meaning: My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.
Surah Ibrahim verse 40
9. Dua Ibrahim For His Father
رَبَّنَا ٱغۡفِرۡ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلۡحِسَابُ
Transliteration: Rabbana ighfir lee waliwalidayya walil mu’mineena yawma yaqoomul hisab.
Meaning: Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.
Surah Ibrahim verse 41
10. Dua Of Ibrahim For Himself
Ibrahim (peace be upon him) asked Allah to make him wise. He wished to be in Paradise on Judgment Day and prayed for a good and righteous son. He always asked Allah for forgiveness and acceptance.
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ* وَاجْعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ* وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ* وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ* وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ* يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ* إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّـهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
Transliteration: Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqneebissaliheen Waj’al lee lisana sidqin fee al-akhireen Waj’alnee min warathati jannatinna’eem Waghfir li-abee innahu kana minaddalleen Wala tukhzinee yawma yub’athoon Yawma la yanfa’u malun walabanoon Illa man ata Allahabiqalbin saleem.
Dua Of Ibrahim In English
My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. And grant me a mention [i.e., reputation] of honor among later generations. And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected. The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children. But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart.
Surah Shu’ara verses 83-89
11. Dua of Prophet Ibrahim For Child
رَبِّ هَبۡ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
Transliteration: Rabbi hablee mina assaliheen.
Meaning: My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.
Surah As Saffat verse 100
12. Dua
رَّبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ
Transliteration: Rabbana Aalayka tawakkalna wailayka anabna wailayka almaseeru.
Meaning: Our Lord! In You we put our trust, and to You we turn in repentance, and to You is (our) final return.
Surah Mumtahanah verse 4
13. Dua
رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا رَبَّنَآۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Transliteration: Rabbana la taj’alnafitnatan lillatheena kafaroo waghfir lanarabbana innaka anta al’azeezu alhakeem.
Meaning: Our Lord, make us not [objects of] torment for the disbelievers and forgive us, our Lord. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Surah Mumtahanah verse 5
14. Dua of Prophet Ibrahim When Thrown In Fire
حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
Transliteration: Hasbunal laahu wa ni’malwakeel
Meaning: Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.
Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: When (Prophet) Ibraheem(عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم) was thrown into the fire, he said: “Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and, He is the Best Disposer of affairs.”
So did Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (ﷺ), when he was told: “A great army of the pagans had gathered against him, so fear them”.
But this (warning) only increased him and the Muslims in Faith and they said: “Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)”
