Hadith Text

Anas (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to supplicate with this dua. (O Allah! I seek refuge in You from leucoderma, insanity, leprosy and evil diseases).

At-Teebi explained that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) didn’t ask for protection from all sicknesses in general because some illnesses, like fevers or headaches, may be difficult but can bring great rewards if endured with patience, especially if they are temporary and not chronic.

Instead, the hadith seeks refuge from chronic illnesses that can isolate a person, causing friends to avoid them and carrying a stigma.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sought refuge from specific ailments like leukoderma, insanity, leprosy, and other evil diseases.

By seeking refuge in Allah from these specific illnesses, it shows they are very harmful and have a negative impact.
