Washamsi Surah in English
- By the sun and its light
- And by the moon as it follows it
- And by the day as it displays it
- And by the night as it conceals it
- And by the heaven and Him Who built it.
- And by the earth and Him Who spread it.
- And by the soul and Him.
- Who fashioned it, and inspired in it [an innate ability to differentiate between] wickedness and righteousness.
- He will indeed attain true success who purifies it.
- And he will indeed fail who corrupts it.
- Thamood rejected [their Messenger], for they were transgressors
- When the most wicked among them went forth [to kill the she- camel].
- The Messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them: Hands off the she- camel of Allah and her drink!
- But they disbelieved him and hamstrung her.
- So their Lord unleashed against them, for their sin, a punishment that reached them all. And He [Allah] feared not the consequences thereof.

In these verses, Allah makes a promise about good and bad people. He swears by the sun, moon, day, and night, and how they follow each other in a perfect way. This shows Allah’s power and knowledge.
Allah also swears by the heaven and earth, and how He created them for our benefit. And He swears by the soul, which is a amazing and delicate thing.
If we make our soul pure and good, we will succeed. But if we make it bad and sinful, we will fail.
A long time ago, a group of people called Thamood did not listen to their prophet and did something very bad. So Allah punished them with a big disaster.
Allah is powerful and wise, and He doesn’t fear anything. He controls everything and knows what’s best for us.
Surah Lessons
Two important lessons from this Surah:
- Taking care of your soul is crucial. If you make it pure and good, you will succeed. But if you make it bad and sinful, you will lose.
- Disobeying Allah’s commands can lead to severe punishment, like what happened to the people of Thamūd. They openly defied the Prophet and faced serious consequences.
