بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰ (1) وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ (2) وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ (3) إِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتَّىٰ (4) فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ (5) وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ (6) فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ (7) وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ (8) وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ (9) فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ (10) وَمَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ (11) إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَلۡهُدَىٰ (12) وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ (13) فَأَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارٗا تَلَظَّىٰ (14) لَا يَصۡلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى (15) ٱلَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ (16) وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَتۡقَى (17) ٱلَّذِي يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ (18) وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةٖ تُجۡزَىٰٓ (19) إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ (20) وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضَىٰ (21)

Wallaili Iza Yagsha Surah Transliteration

1. Wallaili izaa yaghshaa.
2. Wannahaari izaa tajalla.
3. Wa maa khalaqaz zakara wal unthaa.
4. Inna sa’yakum lashattaa.
5. Fa ammaa man a’taa wattaqaa.
6. Wa saddaqa bil husnaa.
7. Fasanu yassiruhoo lilyusraa.
8. Wa ammaa man bakhila wastaghnaa.
9. Wa kazzaba bil husnaa.
10. Fasanu yassiruhoo lil’usraa.
11. Wa maa yughnee ‘anhu maaluhooo izaa taraddaa.
12. Inna ‘alainaa lal hudaa.
13. Wa inna lanaa lal Aakhirata wal oolaa.
14. Fa anzartukum naaran talazzaa.
15. Laa yaslaahaaa illal ashqaa.
16. Allazee kazzaba wa tawallaa.
17. Wa sa yujannnabuhal atqaa.
18. Allazee yu’tee maalahoo yatazakkaa.
19. Wa maa li ahadin ‘indahoo min ni’matin tujzaaa
20. Illab tighaaa’a wajhi rabbihil a ‘laa.
21. Wa lasawfa yardaa.

Wallaili Iza Yagsha Surah in English

1. By the night as it conceals,
2. and by the day as it discloses,
3. and by Him Who created male and female,
4. verily your endeavours have divergent ends.
5. As for him who gives in charity and fears Allah,
6. and believes in the ultimate good,
7. We will make easy for him the path of salvation.
8. But as for him who is miserly and thinks he has no need of Allah,
9. and denies the ultimate good,
10. We will make easy for him the path of perdition.
11. His wealth will avail him nothing when he falls [into hell],
12. Surely it is for Us to show the path of guidance,
13. and verily to Us belong the hereafter and the present world.
14. So I warn you of a raging fire,
15. which none will enter except the most wretched,
16. who denied and turned away.
17. But the most righteous will be kept away from it,
18. who gives his wealth seeking to purify himself
19. and owing no one any favour for which he should repay him;
20. rather he seeks only the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High.
21. And indeed he will in time be well pleased.

Allah warns of a raging fire that will consume the most wretched, who denied the truth and turned away from the divine command.

In contrast, the most righteous will be kept away from it, having spent their wealth seeking purification and Allah’s pleasure.

The surah concludes by describing the righteous individual who owes no one any favors, repays debts, and seeks only Allah’s pleasure. Such a person will be well pleased with the rewards bestowed upon them by Allah.
