Commentary

Ibn Katheer said that Allah presents an exemplary model for believers through the wife of Firawn (Pharaoh), who prayed: “My Lord! Build for me a home with You in Paradise, and save me from Firawn and his work, and save me from the people who are wrongdoers.” (Surah At-Tahrim, 66:11)

Despite being married to the most tyrannical and disbelieving person on earth, she remained steadfast in her faith, obeying Allah and seeking refuge from her husband’s evil deeds.

According to Qatadah, her faith was unwavering, and she was not affected by Firawn’s disbelief.

The narrative reveals that she was subjected to torture under the scorching sun, but angels shielded her with their wings.

She was even shown her future abode in Paradise, a testament to her unwavering belief. When Firawn’s aides attempted to force her to recant, she persevered, proclaiming her faith in the Lord of Musa and Harun.

Ultimately, she was martyred, and her soul was taken while she gazed upon her heavenly dwelling.

Her supplication, “My Lord! Build for me a home with You in Paradise…,” signified her desire to be saved from Firawn’s evil clutches and to be distanced from the wrongdoers.

Her name, Asiyah bint Muzahim, is revered, and her story serves as a powerful inspiration for believers to remain steadfast in their faith, even in the face of adversity.
