Rabbana Faghfirlana Zunubana

“Rabbana faghfirlana zunubana” is a heartfelt dua from the Quran, seeking forgiveness and a righteous end. This supplication is found in Surah Al-Imran, Verse 193.

Rabbana Faghfirlana Zunubana in Arabic

رَبَّنا فَاغفِر لَنا ذُنوبَنا وَكَفِّر عَنّا سَيِّـٔاتِنا وَتَوَفَّنا مَعَ الأَبرارِ

Transliteration

Rabbana faghfirlana zunoobanaa wa kaffir anna sayyi aatinaa wa tawaffanaa ma alabraar.

Rabbana faghfirlana means Our Lord ! Forgive us our sins and remit from us our evil deeds and make us die with the righteous.

Full Dua

رَّبَّنَآ إِنَّنَا سَمِعۡنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِى لِلۡإِيمَٰنِ أَنۡ ءَامِنُواْ بِرَبِّكُمۡ فَئَامَنَّاۚ رَبَّنَا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرۡ عَنَّا سَيِّئَاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارِ

Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] calling to faith, [saying], ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die among the righteous.

This dua is a sincere request to Allah to:

  • Forgive our sins and transgressions
  • Grant us a righteous end, dying in a state of faith and obedience
  • Include us among the company of the righteous on the Day of Judgment

ربَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbanaghfirlana zunubana wa israfana fi amrina wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna alal qawmil kafireen.

Meaning

Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.
