1. Dua for Shifa in Quran

The Quran is complete healing for all spiritual (mental) and physical diseases, and all ailments in this world and the Hereafter.

If the sick person seeks treatment in the Quran in the proper manner, and applies it to his illness with sincerity and faith, and complete acceptance, and firm belief, fulfilling the necessary conditions, the illness will never resist it.

Some Verses of Healing in the Qur’an include:

Surah Fatiha

Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) described Surat al-Fatihah as a ruqyah, and he approved of the Sahabi who recited it as a ruqyah for the one who had been stung by a scorpion. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim (2201)

Ibn al-Qayyim said: “There was a time when I fell sick in Makkah, and I could not find a doctor or any medicine, so I treated myself by reciting it. I would take some Zamzam water and recite it over it several times, then drink it. I recovered fully by these means, then I began to do that whenever I felt a lot of pain, and I benefited greatly from it.” (Zad al-Ma’ad, 4/164)

The Proper Way to Make Dua

When making dua (prayer), remember:

  1. Be sincere and genuine in your request to Allah.
  2. Turn to Him with humility and reverence.
  3. Seek out special times when prayers are more likely to be answered.
  4. Be patient and don’t rush for an answer, as Allah may delay it for a reason known only to Him.
  5. Have strong faith and trust in Allah’s response.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught:

“Pray to Allah with confidence, knowing He will respond. But remember, Allah doesn’t answer prayers from a distracted or careless heart.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3479)
