3 Beautiful Dua For Happiness in English and Arabic

Dua For Happiness

It’s a good idea to regularly ask Allah for happiness and goodness. Remember that Allah knows everything about you, including your past, present, and future.

Happiness means different things to different people. It’s a good feeling that comes from something in your life, like a happy memory, a loved one, a goal or dream you want to achieve and something you want to happen in the future.

When you think about or achieve these things, you feel happy and fulfilled. So, ask Allah to bring happiness and goodness into your life, and trust that He knows what’s best for you.

The dua is transliterated as Allaahumma ‘innee ‘abduka, ibnu ‘abdika, ibnu ‘amatika, naasiyatee biyadika, maadhin fiyya hukmuka, ‘adlun fiyya qadhaa’uka, ‘as’aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, ‘aw ‘anzaltahu fee kitaabika, ‘aw ‘allamtahu ‘ahadan min khalqika, ‘awista’tharta bihi fee ‘ilmil-ghaybi ‘indaka, ‘an taj’alal-Qur’aana rabee’a qalbee, wa noora sadree, wa jalaa’a huznee, wa thahaaba hammee.

Meaning in English

O Allah, I am Your slave, the son of Your male slave, the son of Your female slave. My forelock is in Your Hand, Your predestination is applying on me, and Your ruling regarding me is just. I ask You by every Name of Yours, that You names Yourself, taught to one of Your creation, sent in Your Book, or kept exclusive to knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur’aan the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my sadness, and the thing that causes my worries to depart, Allaah will remove their worries and sadness and will replace it with relief.

Abdullah ibn Mas‘ood, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “No person, when stricken by anxiety or with sorrow, says the above dua except that Allah removes from him his anxiety and sorrow, and replaces them with comfort and happiness.“

He (Ibn Masood) said: They (the Companions) asked: “Should we not learn (memorize) this?” He said: Yes! Whoever hears this should learn (memorize) it.

[Musnad Ahmad (3712), al-Haakim (1/509), Ibn Hibbaan (2372) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh Ahmad Shaakir, and also by Shaikh al-Albani in al-Saheehah (199)]

Al-Rabee: meaning: Happiness, joy, delight. In Arabic, the word al-Rabee is the name of the Spring season, which acts as a new beginning after the harsh winter. Fresh buds bloom, animals awaken, and the earth seems to come to life again.

When you say, ‘O Allah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your bondswoman,’ you’re acknowledging that you’re a creation of Allah and that He’s the Creator, Owner, and King. You’re also recognizing that you and all your ancestors, including Adam and Eve, depend on Allah for everything.

Saying ‘my forelock is in Your Hand’ means that Allah has control over everything, including your life and decisions. You’re admitting that no one can oppose Allah’s decisions or change what He has planned.

When you say ‘Your Command over me is forever executed,’ you’re acknowledging that Allah’s commands, both religious and universal, will always be carried out. You can choose to obey or disobey religious commands, but you can’t resist universal commands like life and death.

Saying ‘Your decree over me is just’ means that you believe Allah’s decisions, whether good or bad, are always fair and just.

By saying these words, you’re showing humility, obedience, and devotion to Allah. This is the best way to ask Allah for things, and He will answer your prayers quickly, especially when you’re humble and seeking His help.

When you say, ‘I ask You by every Name belonging to You,’ you’re asking Allah to help you get closer to Him using all of His beautiful names. Then, you ask Allah to ‘make the Qur’an the life of my heart,’ meaning that you want the Qur’an to bring happiness and energy to your heart.

Just like how spring brings new life and happiness after a harsh winter, you’re asking Allah to remove your worries and sorrows and replace them with happiness and peace through the Qur’an.

You’re also asking Allah to ‘make my heart illuminated with its light,’ meaning that you want the Qur’an’s teachings to guide you and help you tell right from wrong.

Finally, you’re asking Allah to ‘remove my sorrow and anxiety’ through the Qur’an, because it has the power to heal and comfort you.”

2. Dua

According to Sahih al Bukhari (6389), This is the most recited dua of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِىْ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِىْ الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَّقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration: Rabbana atina fid dunya hasanatan wa fil aakhirati hasanatan waqina adhaban-nar.

Meaning: Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.

This prayer asks Allah for a happy and fulfilling life, both now and in the afterlife. It’s a heartfelt request for blessings, goodness, and protection from harm.

True happiness comes from having a good life, not just getting what we want. Sometimes, what we desire might not be good for us.

For example, marrying someone you love might seem great at first, but later you might discover problems that make you unhappy. Or, getting your dream job might seem amazing, but if it makes you arrogant and unkind, it’s not worth it.

Even small pleasures like enjoying a chocolate bar might seem nice, but if it leads to unhealthy habits, it’s not a good thing. Real happiness comes from being content and fulfilled, with Allah’s guidance to live a good life.

Asking Allah for goodness, like Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did, can bring a lifetime of happiness and satisfaction.

3. Dua

اللَّهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلَ إِلاَّ مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلاً، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً

Transliteration: Allahumma laa sahla illaa maa ja-altahu sahlaa wa anta tajalus saba in shita sahlaa.

Meaning: O Allah! there is no ease other than what You make easy. If You please You ease sorrow.

This prayer says that only Allah can truly make our lives easier and happier. It asks Allah to make our difficulties less hard and to take away our sorrows.

When you say this prayer, you’re asking Allah to comfort you and make you happy. You’re trusting that Allah has the power to make things better when they’re tough.

This prayer is especially good to say when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say it, and it’s a good idea to say it often throughout the day.

That way, Allah will either answer your prayer or help you feel better in a different way, leading to more happiness.
