RELATED:

When we ask Allah for forgiveness, we’re seeking the erasure of our sins and the concealment of our mistakes from others.

By saying ‘And have mercy on me,‘ we’re asking Allah to shower us with His compassion, which leads to a life of good deeds, righteousness, and blessings.

When we say ‘And heal me,’ we’re asking Allah to deliver us from all evils, temptations, and calamities in this life and the next.

Asking Allah to ‘Provide for me’ means seeking a generous and sufficient provision that benefits us and our loved ones, including our family, children, and the poor.

We’re also seeking knowledge, faith, and certainty, which are the best forms of sustenance that benefit us in this life and the hereafter.

As the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘Grant me knowledge that will benefit me.’

When we ask Allah to ‘Guide me,’ we’re seeking guidance to the truth, which leads to correctness in our beliefs and actions.

We’re asking for two types of guidance: knowledge and clarification, and the guidance of Tawfiq (success) and direction. This guidance leads us to the doors of happiness in this life and the hereafter.

Finally, when we ask Allah to ‘Raise me,’ we’re seeking an elevation of our status in this life and the hereafter. This includes a good reputation, acceptance among people, elevation in knowledge and destiny, and lofty ranks in the highest heavens in the hereafter.

May Allah grant us all these blessings and more.
