Allahumma Ma Asbaha Bi Min Ni’matin in Arabic & Meaning

Allahumma Ma Asbaha Bi Min Ni’matin

When you wake up or in the evening, you can say, “Allahumma ma asbaha bi min ni’matin.” If you say this, you’ve thanked Allah for the whole day or night, as the Hadith says.

Transliteration: Allahumma maa ‘asbaha bee min ni’matin, ‘aw bi’ahadin min khalqika faminka wahdaka laa shareeka laka, falakal-hamdu walakash-shukr.

Allahumma Ma Asbaha Bi Min Ni’matin Meaning in English

Allahumma ma asbaha means O Allaah, whatever blessing has been received by me or anyone of Your Creation is from You alone, You have no partner. All praise is for you and thanks is to You.

In the evening, we change the word أصبح to (amsa) أمسى, so we say:

اللَّهُمَّ مَا أَمسَى بِي مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ أَو بِأَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِك، فَمِنْكَ وَحْدَكَ لا شريكَ لَك، فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ الشُّكْر

This doesn’t change the meaning much, but it makes it more appropriate that we begin the supplication by mentioning our current period of the day, which is the evening.

Text Of The Hadith

Narrated Daughter of the Prophet: AbdulHamid, a client of Banu Hashim, said that his mother who served some of the daughters of the Prophet (ﷺ) told him that one of the daughters of the Prophet (ﷺ) said that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to teach her saying: Say in the morning:

Glory be to Allah, and I begin with praise of Him; there is no power but in Allah ; what Allah wills comes to pass and what He does not will does not come to pass; I know that Allah is Omnipotent and that Allah has comprehended everything in knowledge” ; for whoever says it in the morning will be guarded till the evening, and whoever says it in the evening will be guarded till the morning.

Allahumma Ma Asbaha Bi Min Ni’matin

Commentary

The dua starts by thanking Allah for the good things you’ve experienced in the morning or evening. It’s based on what the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said about being grateful for that specific time.

This dua doesn’t focus on one particular blessing but covers all the good things you have, whether you know about them or not, in this life or the next.

Also, it’s about being grateful for what others have too, recognizing that their blessings can help you and it’s important to thank Allah for them too.

By saying this dua, you’re saying that all blessings come from Allah only, showing how special He is and that He doesn’t have any partners.

The main idea is to praise and thank Allah for everything He gives you, recognizing Him as the ultimate giver.

Saying these prayers isn’t just about protection but also about getting more rewards and doing what you’re supposed to do.

It’s important to say these prayers sincerely, and it’s easy to remember them so you can think about them deeply and live according to their teachings.

Thinking about Allah’s blessings all day long is a good thing because it helps you remember to always be thankful to Him.

The goal of this prayer is to make you think a lot about the good things Allah gives you and to always remember to thank Him for His kindness.
