O Allah! Thou art Peace, and peace comes from Thee; Blessed art Thou, O Possessor of Glory and Honour.

Sahih Muslim 591
Allahumma Antas Salam Wa Minkas Salam

After seeking forgiveness, the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, would say: “O Allah, You are As-Salaam [Peace], from You is peace, and You are Blessed, O Owner of Loftiness and Honor.”

As-Salam is one of Allah’s beautiful names, meaning The Impeccable One or the Flawless One, without any defects.

Allah is free from all imperfections and deficiencies because of His perfection in His self, His attributes, and His actions. He ensures the safety of His creation, protecting them from unjust punishment and oppression.

Sheikh Ibn Uthaimeen explained that when you say this dua, it’s like you’re asking: “O Allah, You are Peace, so make my prayer safe from being rejected or having deficiencies. Prayer can be accepted or rejected, so please accept it fully.”

“O Allah, you are Assalam (peace), and peace is one of Your names. It signifies safety, showing that You are free from any flaws or shortcomings in Yourself, Your actions, and Your attributes.”

“O Allah, you are peace, and from You is peace. Every safety we seek or experience in our religious or worldly affairs comes from You alone.”

“O Allah, You are As-Salam,” means You are perfect, without any imperfections, changes, or flaws.

And from You comes peace,” means peace is sought, desired, and obtained from You.

Blessed are You,” means You are exalted above what the unjust say, with great majesty.

O Owner of Majesty and Honour,” means You deserve majesty, which is greatness. Some say majesty is abstaining from what doesn’t befit, while others say majesty is only attributed to Allah. Generosity is kindness, and it’s said that honored ones are shown kindness and grace.

Note:

It’s the Sunnah (Prophetic guidance) for Muslims to say after every obligatory prayer, whether they prayed as an imam (leader), behind an imam, or alone:

Astaghfirullah” (I ask Allah for forgiveness) three times, then “Allahumma anta al-salam wa minka al-salam tabarakta ya dhal-jalali wa’l-ikram” (O Allah, You are free from all defects and from You comes peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of majesty and honor).

It’s not allowed to recite out loud in unison; each person should recite to themselves without listening to anyone else, as reciting dhikr in unison is an innovation with no basis in Islam.
